Born from the COVID-19 pandemic, Epistrofi is an expression of return, of travel to historic and distant homelands after global lockdown.
Epistrofi is a collaboration between the Australian Museum of Contemporary Photography (AMCP) and the Greek-Australian Society (GAS).
The AMCP encourages photographers young and old working for themselves and their own desire to extol, define and reveal. It encourages photographers to explore areas of personal interest rather than submit to the dictates of the art bureaucracy/establishment or the trite demands of picture editors or advertising clients. The Australian Museum of Contemporary Photography has no roll call, no names, no identity of personalities. It functions purely as a means of featuring significant photographic work and discourses of established contemporary photographers, globally, and additionally, as a mentoring body for emerging photographers.
The Greek Australian Society (GAS) is a modern, philanthropic and inclusive organisation representing one of Australia's rich and historic communities.
GAS is a modern organisation that collaborates and promotes the work of Greek-Australian professionals across all industries and sectors.
We acknowledge our rich, diverse and historic collective heritage as Greek Australians, and encourage participation in existing community organisations.
GAS is unlike any other Greek-Australian community organisation because our aim to promote and connect young Greek-Australians is enshrined in our Constitution.
GAS brings big ideas and important conversations to the forefront, for a new wave of participation in living culture.
We foster exclusive social and professional networks, and provide a basis for community advocacy. When put together, these things help us to celebrate being Greek Australian in all our expressions and forms.
As a contemporary organisation, GAS gives a transparent and open framework so that members can feel proud of our objectives and confident in our delivery of outcomes.
With GAS, you will have the opportunity to meet people, form connections and gain an edge in your career while working to preserve our history, language and customs.
Our membership is diverse, meaning that you will come face-to-face with an amazing breadth of personal experiences, professional knowledge and life skills.
In this way, we can all work together through GAS to better ourselves and lead our community into the future.
